I definitely have a passion for traveling, and the new Planner Essentials release is called “Once in a Lifetime”, a collection that focuses on travel. It’s like it was meant to be! Each year, I try to plan trips anywhere to gain memories and experiences – whether it's a day trip, a road trip, a boat ride, or a plane ride. If it’s somewhere new, I’ll go! There is so much beauty in this world to explore, and travel allows me to learn about new cultures by learning the history of the place, meeting new people, trying delicious food, and let’s be honest, there is always good wine somewhere!
My favourite way to document my travels is by placing all my photos and memorabilia into a Sidekick Planner. It is large enough to fit lots of photos, but small enough to fit on a bookshelf. In January, my family and I traveled to the Philippines to visit my parents. They have built a home in Mabalacat, Pampanga, and spend 6 months of the year there. I’ve stored memories from my trip through a few pages in my Sidekick Planner.
My blog explains how. I hope you enjoy it!
Step 1: Cut the dies shown in the pictures below from patterned papers. You will need to back the postage stamps onto cardstock so the images stand out. I just used a lighter grey cardstock and small sections of a boarding pass (I save everything!)
Step 2: Ink the edges of all the die cuts. I used Distress Oxide Vintage Photo to do this. Then, glue the postage stamps onto your chosen backing paper and create the library pocket by gluing the pieces together. I glued the attachment piece from Sidekick Essentials 30 to the library pocket so it could be clipped into my Sidekick planner.
Step 3: Then stamp the images in the photos below onto matching cardstock. I used VersaFine Clair – Nocturne on light grey and grey cardstock, as well as the patterned paper from the collection. The stamps I used were: The Property Of Stamp and Die Set (CSD407), Travel Journal (CS409), and Travels from the Past 3 (CS408).
Step 4: Let’s put it all together! I’ve added photos, the stamps, and even the journal cards from the Once in a Lifetime collection to my page. I love layers, so you’ll see I use them often! I used actual boarding pass pieces on this page. I also added a base page from Sidekick Essentials 33 (2251) to my library pocket for extra photo space.
Step 5: I also created another Sidekick page on the back of my base page using Sidekick Essentials 34 – Travel Fold Out (2252) and Bold Alphabet Stamp (CS410)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog! I hope I’ve inspired you to store your travel memories using the Once in a Lifetime collection and create a travel Sidekick Planner!
