About Wanda
Location: Barrie ON Canada
A Little About Me: My husband and I have been married for 20 years. We opted not to have children, but rather over-sized fur babies, aka Saint Bernards, and to focus on traveling the world. To date, we’ve been to over 70 countries and are still counting!
Growing up as an only child and watching my father paint canvas after canvas, I learned very early on in life the joy and beauty of art. I’d spend hours building play-dough villages; this was probably the first indication of my love of architecture, which ultimately became one of my studies in Uni.
Not being able to build with my own hands the designs I created (unlike my play-dough days!), I found myself drawn to gold-smithing. With this discipline, I could design and physically build what I designed. It was a perfect match! I continue to create customized wedding sets and whatever a client wishes in precious metals.
Fast-forwarding many years, in 2019 - 2020, I was introduced to ECD. The doors to a whole new world opened, and I jumped through those doors without hesitation! It was an immediate addiction. I followed online, watched all the videos I could, and eventually took the plunge to apply for the design team. Best decision ever!! The Planner Essential team with Esther Glas has been a dream come true!
My Favorite Project
Project Title: Planner Folio
Why It’s My Favorite: Hmmm…there are too many to choose from! But I must pick one, so I’d say the Planner folio; the design options are endless. A simple planner page can be designed as I have here, into a complete mini-book folio. It was difficult to stop adding page after page, but running out of paper made that decision for me! Within the collection, there are many added small design embellishments that help to personalize your creations fully. I have one sample using Reminiscence Book 7 and another, more grungy version using a monochromatic theme.
Craft Tip or Must-Have Tool
My Favorite Crafting Tool or Tip: I couldn’t possibly pick one. A good quality die cutting machine, sharp blades on all cutting devices from trimmers to knives, and last but not least lots and lots of ephemera (but is that really a tool?!) Ok maybe not, but an ergonomic office chair is also a must!
TIP: Turn up the music (I personally love Buddha Bar for late night crafting), get comfy, put away the clocks, and just go with the flow: don’t overanalyze every detail, just have fun releasing your creativity!
A Peek Into My Craft Space
About My Craft Space: It may be small but its mighty! I am limited by the space I have, so I had no choice but to make it work. Organizing it has required a few extra trips to IKEA, and I am always on the lookout for that “perfect” storage container or cute office accessory. It’s a space I love and always enjoy spending hours creating in it.
