Art Journal Specials

Heather Steeves
I’m Heather (Heather’s Paper Playroom) and I’m so happy to be a part of the Art Journal Specials design team for the third year! I live in Barrie, Ontario in Canada. I’m married and have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. Since graduating from Interior Design I jumped into the architecture/construction field where I worked for 20 years. I am typically a very linear crafter but I do love to play with mixed media and break free from my linear nature! I’ve been crafting since childhood but finally found my papercrafting passion in 2005. I retired from “work” in 2020 and now I have more time to take care of my family, volunteer and CRAFT!

José Huiting
My name is José Huiting, and I come from Westerlee (Groningen), the Netherlands.
I live there with my husband, my two dogs and two cats.
I have always liked to be creative and have done all kinds of things.
In 2017 I started drawing and discovered mixed media, paper crafting and art journaling, which I still enjoy doing on a daily base.
I'm so happy with all the hobbies I have!
I love working with lots of color and cuteness! But I also love working with rust and a touch of vintage. That's why I felt completely at home in the Cute & Whimsical team in previous years. This year, I'm back on the ArtJournal Specials team, yay!
I hope to inspire you with the various projects I make and my creativity.
This will be my fourth year as a DT member for Elizabeth Craft Designs, for which I am very grateful!

Janet Schmitz
Hello!! My name is Janet Schmitz. aka Mixed Media Momma. I'm a retired therapist, farm wife, and self educated artist. My husband & I have been living for 30+ years on the farm he was born and raised on in the northeastern part of Nebraska but just recently moved closer to grandchildren. My inspiration comes from the farm, land & nature. Fortunately, I now have ample supply of such fuel for my creativity. The main lesson that I have learned over the years is to use what we have and make it better. As a self taught artist I love incorporating 'junk' into my base and turning it into art. I'm a bit obsessed with papers, textiles, color, texture and using all kinds of goops (mediums). They are my 'Happy Place'. I love to teach (and have taught at a local art store), create with others and learn as much as I can.

Jennifer Ritchie-Dietzler
I am a mixed-media artist. I am captivated by all things vintage, antique, and rich in texture, they intrigue and capture the essence of my inner creativity. I love the textured detail in the craftsmanship, color, and design of an era gone by. From architecture to the simplest of folk craft, there is something enchanting about the rusty metal, peeled paint, worn edges, and torn pages that capture both beauty and imagination. In my art, I incorporate layers of inks, paints, mixed media, papers, etc. to try and capture texture and create interest and a little bit of the magic that inspires me.

Martine Menzo
I’m Martine, born in the Netherlands and living across the border in Germany. I’ve been crafting and drawing for as long as I can remember and got part of the Art Journal Specials design team. I’m captivated by the vintage style, nature, and people in general. These themes you see the most when you would describe my creations. I love to observe how people look, walk, and talk. I love the colors and differences in flowers and leaves and I love different structures in old, vintage materials. Torn edges, weathered look, rusty stains. I love to combine different structures in my art as well by using not only different structures of paper but metal or structure pastes, threads, or small pieces of fabric to finish it off. If you want to look me up on social media, I work under the name little.treasuresss, because that’s how my creations feel to me.

Michelle Sammut
Since age 4, I've been immersed in art, from "Art School" games with my brother to holding after-school art classes in the garage. By day, I'm a wife and mom to two boys. As an artist, I make it a daily vow to create something, whether it's journaling, designing planners, painting, knitting, or teaching Cardio and Yoga classes. Thrilled to be part of the Art Journal Specials Design Team with Elizabeth Craft Designs, I look forward to sharing creative journeys with you all!

Reanna van Haren
Hello, I'm Reanna, a mixed-media artist from the Netherlands. I love to incorporate all kinds of techniques in my journals, planners, on cards, and snail mail projects and have been doing this since 2018 after I found back my creativity and followed a mixed media course. I have been a proud member of the ECD team since 2020 and try to inspire creative people through giving lives, teaching workshops, posting (a lot of) pictures, writing blogs and I recently opened a YouTube channel where I post tutorials.

Rianne Leferink
Hello all! My name is Rianne, 35 years old and I live with my wife and daughter Juul (2) near Arnhem, in the Netherlands. From an early age, I have been creative. From making cards, albums, and mixed media to art journaling. My style can be recognized by a vintage look and a stitch here and there. But I also really like a pop of color every now and then. I think it's fantastic to be able to work with all kinds of mediums and see what emerges. I am very happy to be part of the art journal specials team. I hope to inspire you!

Susanna Stenman
Hey, I’m Susanna, and I’m part of the Art Journal Specials Design Team. Creativity has always been a big part of who I am — whether it’s art, crafts, music or photography, I love expressing myself through different mediums. I draw inspiration from nature, colours, music, and the small details around me, and all of these influences shape the mood and emotion in my work.
I’m always exploring new techniques and ideas, and I enjoy trying different kinds of art and craft projects. Mixed media, however, is where I feel most at home — it lets me play with layers, textures, and rhythm in a way that feels truly my own.

Wanda Welsh
Hiya! Wanda here. I’ve been creative my entire life from watching my Father, an artist who painted everyday, to building communities out of play dough to later studying Architecture, Interior Design and eventually Goldsmithing. I grew up loving paper; I was a stationary hoarder! Truth be told, I still am! Once I was exposed to paper crafting, scrapbooking and Art Journalling, I was hooked!
I live a quiet life with my husband and our fur baby Saint Sherpa. I create daily and find joy in the small pleasures of life whether at home or when travelling. I am grateful to be a part of Devid’s Design Team and look forward to inspiring and being inspired by this amazing community of creatives!
