Quick and Easy Cute & Whimsical Bookmarks

Are you a crafter who loves Cute & Whimsical characters and fun projects? Or maybe you’ve been looking for a new way to use your dies. Join us and learn how you can make your own adorable bookmark using the Bee from the Cute & Whimsical Collection.

It’s a quick and easy project that’s perfect for gifts or marking your place in a favorite book.

Hello, Ellen here!

This is my very first blog post as a Design Team member for the Cute & Whimsical team, and since I am a book lover, we’re going to make a bookmark with the fun Bee die set.

Step 1: Start by cutting the base of your bookmark. This size can vary depending on how big you would like the finished bookmark to be. Then die-cut the belly of the Bee. Don’t run the die all the way through your machine. Stop when you see the last little part of the die.

Step 2:  Then, cut from the outside edge of the bookmark up to the die-cut edge on both sides.

Step 3: Now, place the die back over the bee’s belly that you previously cut and draw the bottom of the belly with a pencil.

Step 4: Die-cut the rest of the pieces needed to make the bee and color using your preferred medium. Once colored, glue all the pieces together, leaving the bottom of the feet unglued until later.

Step 5: My bee had to wear glasses, but I didn't have any, so I made glasses using the flower that came with the Bee set. It’s a little bit fiddly to cut out, but you can use a little round punch if you have one. I used my eyelet punch.

Step 6: It’s time to make the Bee come alive. I added the glasses I had made, but you can add any extra elements or finishing touches you would like.

Step 7: Now we need to add all the finishing touches to our bookmark. Cut two pieces of plain cardstock and two pieces of patterned paper to layer and decorate the front and back of the bookmark, and glue them in place. Next, decorated with text and floral embellishments, before die cutting, coloring, and adding the back to the bee. Don’t forget to glue the bees’ feet in place over the patterned paper.

You can make the bookmark with all kinds of Cute & Whimsical Characters, because you can never have enough bookmarks. It’s also a lovely present for a book lover.
