Create a Double Journal Spread with Roses

Join Louise as she creates a beautiful double-page spread featuring roses as the main design element! This fun and simple art journal project uses the Hinged to the Past collection, which is perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters.

Hi, fellow artists! Louise Scherbain here! Today, I will show you how I created a fun and simple double-page spread using the rose as my main feature.

Step 1: On my Journal pages, I blended Distress Oxide ink through one of the stencils in the Journal Stencils 6 set from Hinged to the Past. Then, I splattered Distress Ink over the top before inking the edges with the same color.

Step 2: Once dry, I stamped the Rose Stamp onto one side of my journal pages. I then stamped the same image with VersaFine ink in Nocturne onto a piece of card, which I colored using a water brush and watercolor crayons in three coordinating colors.

Step 3: I did some fussy cutting with my favorite scissors from ECD. Once I finished cutting everything up, I started to piece my page together, layering the colored rose over the one stamped onto the journal page.

Step 4: While putting everything together, I decided to add a couple more elements. Using the corner die from the Just Right Stamp and Die Set and a piece of card from the Abandoned Papers pack, I added a corner to tuck elements inside. I also added two words from the In Full Bloom set.

Above is the final project. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial as much as I enjoyed making it.
