Umbrella Full of Flowers

Hi, Jolanda here and I am thrilled to bring you my first blogpost here at Elizabeth Craft Designs! I want to show you my umbrella full of flowers!

I made the base of this umbrella with the ECD Sidekick Essentials 12 – Scallop Insert – 1834 die cut from the beautiful ECD Garden Party paper – C019.

I made score lines in this with the help of a scoring board. I skipped the first and last arc.

Then I inked the scored lines.

Fold the first and last two arcs backwards on both sides. It will then look like this:

I glued a piece of design paper in this. This is the pattern:

Now fold the score lines over and over like a valley and mountain construction.

I cut a piece of oasis for the 'umbrella'. You can later insert the flowers you have made into this.

It will look like this. I glued the oasis in with a glue gun.

Then I started making FoamIran flowers with ECD Wild Flower 1 - 2096.

I stamped the heart of the flower in the flowers with the ECD Flower Centers stamps CS330 and made stamens in it

I made stems on the flowers with green iron wire and floral tape, so that I can stick them in the oasis.

I also glued wire behind the leaves (made of green cardstock).

The flowers and leaves can now be inserted into the oasis and bent into the desired shape.

I inserted a long skewer through the oasis and the tip of the umbrella. I made this green with a Copic Marker. This then forms the tip of the umbrella.

For a nice finish, I threaded a silver circle (from making jewelry) and a small green flower onto the skewer.

At the top of the umbrella, where the straight end of the skewer sticks out, I made a 'handle' with the musical note from the ECD 1985 Library Pocket Filler Cards set.

If the skewer is too large, you can shorten it with pliers.

On the handle I used the beautiful bow from the ECD Frames and Elements – 2101 set with a pearl brad on it.

Finally, I incorporated the umbrella into a frame, made with the ECD Shadow Box Frames – 1958 with with a background also from the beautiful Garden Party Paper.

I hope you feel inspired to try this Umbrella. This could also make a great Mothersday gift!

With creative greetings,

Jolanda
