Tone-on-Tone Faux Embossing with Bloom Wildly Paper Flowers

Elevate your paper crafting projects with rich, subtle texture and a dramatic dimensional centerpiece that commands attention. In this step-by-step tutorial, you'll learn how to create a tone-on-tone faux embossed background using grey foliage die cuts, then build a vibrant floral focal point featuring Columbine flowers, lush greenery, and a sweet sparrow from the new Bloom Wildly Collection. Follow along below for the full guide and supply list to recreate this elegant technique at home!

Hi everyone, Rajni here! Let's make this beautiful card together.

Step 1: Cut a grey panel measuring 5 1/4” by 7 1/2” and adhere a few pieces of foliage from Floral Greenery 4 (2379) in the same grey to create a monochromatic Background. This tone-on-tone effect, once everything is well stuck down, gives a kind of faux embossed effect, which is a fun, tactile background effect that doesn’t take away from the florals you will add later.

Step 2: Cut the panel with the Stitched Rectangle and Labels die. To create a clean and detailed edge.

Step 3: Cut a frame out of white cardstock using the Rectangle Gift Box die set, cut it diagonally, and adhere it as shown.

Step 4: Layer the ready panel onto the card base using foam tape.

Step 5:  As the base of the focal floral arrangement, adhere an oval frame in the center. The white card used for this frame ties in with the scalloped edge from the earlier step.

Step 6: Paint and assemble a few Columbine flowers, a bird, and a few foliage pieces as shown, using the Columbine die(2377), stamp flower centers 3 (CS461), Sparrow die (2380), and Floral Greenery 3 (2379). Start building the floral bouquet as shown.

Step 7: To finish, adhere a few sparkly stones to finish the card.
