Vintage Journal Page

Step 1:
I used the page punch from set 2111: labels, tags and more, as a base.

Step 2:

I started with a sheet of vellum. With this I am going to create an inked background. To achieve this, I use distress oxide in the colors Walnut stain, Vintage photo, Ground Expresso, Prize Ribbon and Uncharted Mariner. For each color, I’m applying some ink to an acrylic block and "dab" it onto the vellum. I continue to do this until I’m happy with the color combination.

Finally, I want to add a darker blue. I choose the Dragon Fly Denim from Lindy's Starbust Spray. There is a subtle shimmer in this.

Step 3:

Here and there I’ve used versamark to stamp part of the script from stamp set CS343: Script from the past. I altered these with embossing powder in the color copper.

Then I stamped the middle flowers from stamp set CS345: Stitched borders. These I altered with white embossing powder.

Step 4:

I cut the background to size. I stitched this on my base page, using my sewing machine. I use a regular sewing machine, but always use a jeans needle when stitching paper. On top of this I stick a "vintage leaf" and a piece of lace to top it off. And again I’ve used the sewing machine to stitch these. I let the thread stick out a bit here and there, which gives a nice effect.

Step 5:

From the leftover vellum, I punched a tag.. At the bottom of the tag I glued a strip of paper and corrugated cardboard. The entire tag will, of course, be stitched. On the backside I stuck a piece of chipboard so that I can stick the tag raised.

Step 6:

Behind the tag, I like to add some flower sprigs. These are from a previous collection:
ATC Kit (K016) and 2033 (Ticket to fly free). I punched these out of Tim Holtz's kraft stock. You can sand this paper. This brings the kraft color to the front. A very nice effect!

Step 7:
And then it was time to assemble the page.

Behind the tag, I incorporated the cute flower sprigs, stamped and colored the little bird and to finish it off I added a tag and flower.

Then here is the final result:

I hope you enjoyed it and that I was able to inspire you. Thank you for reading along and hope to see you next time!

Best regards,

Rianne
