Easy Steps to Make Cute Cards with Inked Backgrounds
Are you a crafter who loves making projects with cute characters? Or maybe you’ve been looking for ideas for easy inked cards suitable for the whole family? In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to create a card with an inked background and a complete dog. This project is so much fun, and you can change the colors and the sentiments to create cards for the whole family.
Hello everyone, Lisanne here with a cute card made with the latest Cute & Whimsical release. Let’s see which adventure this dog goes on.
Step 1: I start by die-cutting all the dog elements from Soft Finish Cardstock and coloring them with Distress Oxide ink in different shades of brown.
Step 2: I then adhere some parts of the dog together; others I will do later because the dog will be wearing a sweater.
Step 3: I die-cut the clothes and hat that I wanted the dog to wear. The clothes were cut from a denim sheet. Playing with different media when cutting the clothes can be a lot of fun. You can experiment with different fabrics and coloring mediums with lots of great results.
Step 4: I adhere the parts of the dog and the clothes together. He looks like a skater dog now. It reminds me of the song ‘Skaterboy’ from Avril Lavigne.
Step 5: Then I made a skateboard for the dog, from cardstock, and edged all the pieces with Distress ink before gluing them together.
Step 6: Then I cut and colored all the background elements that I wanted to use. I colored the elements with Distress Inks, blending them into the cardstock to build color variations. These areas of lighter and darker applied ink stop your background from looking flat.
Step 7: I adhere all the background pieces together. I used foam tape for the road and fence to give it some dimension.
Step 8: I made the card base from kraft cardstock with some patterned paper on top. The paper is also from the dog collection.
Step 9: I finished off the card by adhering the dog with his skateboard and the word ‘cool dude’ on the card. Made some small stars with a white pencil.
I hope you got inspired by this skaterdog card. Thankyou so much for reading this blogpost. Enjoy you craft time with the fantastic dogs!
