Car-shaped 3D Pop-up Cards with the Dog Days Collection!
Are you a crafter who loves making shaped pop-up cards? Or maybe you’ve always wanted to create cute characters for your projects? Join us to learn how to make a car-shaped pop-up card the easy way. This handmade card is perfect for any dog lover!
Hello everyone, Jackie here with today’s post.
There is something special about receiving a handmade card, but when it pops into life, it becomes extra special. This project combines fabulous die-cut dogs and a playful 3D pop-up car, all made from sturdy cardstock, so whether you are creating a card for a dog lover or a fun birthday surprise, this design will surely bring a smile to your recipient's day.
Step 1: First, we need to die-cut and adapt the pop-up box base from the Box Folding Card set. Die cut the three-sided base, then trim off the flap side, leaving approximately 2 1/8” or 50mm.
Step 2: Next, build up the box by attaching a fourth side to complete the square, and glue the two inner struts in place.
Step 3: Now, die-cut all the car parts in any color you like. Fix the four tires in place on the two longest sides of the box.
Step 4: Build the car's front and glue it to one side over the tires, ensuring you do not see the top of the box through the car window.
Step 5: Next, build up the back of the car, trimming off the window part, then fix it to the reverse side of the box.
Tip: Switch out the grid for a handwritten number plate.
Step 6: Die cut and build four dogs of your choice. Try to make the reverse side of the dogs as neat as possible, as you will see the backs.
Step 7: Glue the first dog in place directly to the middle strut, then attach the second dog using 3D foam pads as they need to slightly overlap to fit inside. Repeat with the other two dogs.
Step 8: Finish off by adding another handwritten number plate to the front of the car.
I hope you have enjoyed this fun project and feel inspired to have a go. Thank you for stopping by today.. happy crafting xx
