6th Day Of Craftsmas!

It’s the 6th day of Craftsmas, and today, we have design team member Wanda with a tutorial showing you how to use up all those small leftover pieces from your paper packs that you can’t bear to part with.

Hello Creative Tribe!

Ever wonder what to do with those last few paper pieces from your paper packs? Pieces you don’t want to part with because you loved the paper so much! I find using those scrap pieces for ephemera, tags, layers of goodness, is the perfect way to add a little extra pizzazz to a page, and it doesn’t need to be complicated.

Here, I’ve created what could be a tag or a simple accent for a page. It's a wonderful way to spend a few hours, using your scraps to make a stash of ephemera you can pull from when needed.

Step 1: Grab all your bits and bobs of scrap pieces of paper.

Step 2: Select the pieces you wish to use. Simply grab the ones that you get a creative vibe from. You’re not limited to using only those pieces but it is somewhere to start.

Step 3: Start building layers. Here, I used a 3 x 4 card and a vintage picture image as my starting point. I knew I wanted these to be a part of whatever I’d end up with! I grabbed a small piece of paper, folded it over, and added some sewing texture. This became my card topper. I also added texture to the vintage image by using frosted crystals. I love the texture this adds!

Step 4: At this point,  I wanted to add more texture with fibers. I used coffee-dyed cheesecloth and a dark brown wired ribbon.

Step 5: To assemble. Grab your stapler, glue, or tape - whatever product you prefer to use: there is no wrong way to do this! layer the element together in a way that pleases you and voila! You have yourself a piece of pizzazz to add to your page!

Anyoo…Hope this sparks you to create your own ephemera!  Enjoy and have fun experimenting! Happy Craftsmas x
